The 980m is going to serve you better then the 970m and be the biggest difference. If you can live with the cosmetic difference, I would go with the G751. Going Haswell to Skylake, CPU alone is going to make very little difference.
#ASUS G751JT WH71 REVIEW UPGRADE#
Normally you wouldnt upgrade a laptop anyway because the cost is so high, and a lot of the heatsink/heatpipe setups strictly designed and proprietary to that GPU series. Laptops are normally not all that upgradable, some ROG laptops especially since the CPU/GPU can be soldered to their boards. Thank you all in advance for any help that you might be able to provide. Hopefully it's not too much to ask, but any insights that you guys could provide as to what decision you would make, keeping in mind my planned usage, would be greatly appreciated. Go for the newer components but weaker graphics card or older components with a stronger graphics card? So my question is, which would be the better buy (let's assume I could get the G752VT for $2,108.98). The G752VY-DH72 is currently $3,097.80 (often $2,999.99), which, as I mentioned, is out of the budget. Price wise, currently the G752VT is $2,208.98 (although recently was just $2,108.98) and the G751JY(WX) is currently $2,249.99. I mention day-trading to highlight that I plan to have two external monitors plugged in. I would like the computer to last me a while playing on at least medium settings though. Gaming wise I've dealt with playing many games on minimal settings and I would like to not have to do this anymore, but playing on ultra is not a necessity. Obviously either of the laptops I'm looking at will be a MAJOR leap in performance compared to what I'm currently using. Upgrading from potato laptop - Core i5 M430, 4GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM, 640GB 5400RPM HDD, NVIDIA GT 230M. So G752VT has newer components for the CPU, RAM, and SSD, but the G751(WX) has the better graphics card. Budget is a concern so the G752VY-DH72 is out of the question.ġ28GB NVMe SSD vs 128GB SSD (having difficulty finding the interface for this model, but hopefully someone here knows)īoth have 1TB 7200 RPM HDD and both have G-Sync

Long story short, but I am locked into purchasing from a specific vendor so I do not have the opportunity to search out significantly better prices or alternative model specifications.

I know there was a similar thread relatively recently, but the comparison machines were different and I was hoping to get some advice a little more tailored to my situation.īasically I'm looking at purchasing either the G752VT-DH72 or G751JY-WH71(WX). I'm new to the forums but was hoping to get some advice.
